Leaving Sunday for our first trip to Disney and staying at Horizons Marriott. What are some good non Chain restaurant options near the resort.

There aren't many restaurants near the resort other than a couple of Chinese places. Go over past Seaworld near the convention center and you'll find a lot of choices. Most are chains, however. Going over to John Young Parkway, and Orange Blossom Trail, you'll find even more.

We like Flippers Pizza really well. Their breadsticks are excellent - more like homemade bread - yum.

The Flippers we go to is off of Westwood Blvd near Seaworld in a little shopping complex.

While nothing is real close there are lots of options within a 2-5 minute drive. Many are chains however. A few that are not that I can think of are, Vallarta Mexican on 535 close to Giordano's (another good option). There is a sub place and Chinese food restaurant on Central Fl parkway past Sea World in the Publix shopping center. There is also Nick's Grill over at Grande Vista, which is a good restaurant.
