The closer to the end of the onth the greater the discount . Once or twice a year they will be 90% off. That is when we buy several hundred dollars wrth of Gift certificates for our own account. Then we use these for the Year. Have used better than half already this year.
Toward the end of the month often the best and most popular discounts are gone. So just wait until the first and they all are available.

We have had great success with Restaurant.com so far since finding it late last year. This was just after their 90% off offer on 9/9/09. That is the only time I am aware that they offered 90% off. I am hoping they offer a "buy certificates for only 10%" on 10/10/2010. I will be watching my inbox that morning and buying up several $25 certs for only $1 if they offer it.
We don't have many local places that participate, but always look for places for the areas we are vacationing to.
The current 50% off is only through the end of today, but rest assured, they will have another offer, if not a better one starting tomorrow.

Certs No Longer Expire?
I think this is fairly new. I noticed today on a cert we bought recently that it indicates it doesn't expire. Even an old cert we bough last year has the verbiage. In the past they used expire in a year, except for those living in CA.

Certificate available to buy but not to redeem as a gift?
I have never seen this before. There is a restaurant in Orlando that we are interested in getting a certificate for. The restaurant has $10, $25, and $50 certs. the $10 and $50 certs can be redeemed, only the $25 cert seems to be blocked out. The $25 certificate can be bought for cash, but I can't redeem a restaurant.com certificate to get it. The restaurant has three locations, and all three have the same issue.
