We will be going to Hilton Head the week of Labor Day. Restaurant.com has 80% off through today using code "portion". We have never been to Hilton Head and would like some advice on the best restaurants especially those listed on the above website. Thanks in advance! TUGGERS are GREAT!

Aqua Grill/Across from Coligny Plaza expensive but wonderful for that special occasion. Request 2nd floor view of the ocean. Used to be $75.00 off if you spent $150 or $50 off for $100 but the price has now changed. Meals are $25-30 range. It seems there is a $25 off that costs $15 less 80% or $3.00. 20% tip is added.

Bistro Mezzaluna/Pope Ave and Little Venice/Shelter Cove were standard fare. Little Venice is nice to eat at while watching the boats and or fireworks at Shelter Cove. $10 and up pp.

The Studio on Pope Ave meals are $22-$35. Small place. Cowboy Ribeye is very good. Wife is an artist and her husband is the chef.

Main Street Cafe North End of the island is ok. Place is clean but the service was spotty last time we went. I prefer the others.

Avoid and I mean avoid Island Bistro. No one but us was in the restaurant which gives me the creeps about how long the food was in the cooler. It's in a plaza on Pope Ave.

I have not tried the others listed as of today.

I will tell you that if you dine at early bird specials before 6pm you can fare as well price wise. Pick up a Hilton head Dining guide from a kiosk. List menus/prices and directions. http://hhidining.com/earlybird.php

For example you can eat at Aqua for $18pp at an early bird and that's worth going to and you can make reservations on Open Table.

Thank you! I picked up three of them including Little Venice, Aqua grill and Alligator grill. It only cost me $7.00 for the three of them so I figured I don't have much to lose. I think you are probably right about it being just as cheap to utilize the early bird specials. Thank you for your advice and the link to the restuarants, good information to have. Now if we can just avoid the jelly fish....LOL!

dining coupons

We went to Ted Montana's in Bluffton using a restaurant.com coupon several months ago. The food and service was very good. Go to Charley's Place on HH for their "Early Bird" dinners. The various meals are different prices, but include drink(coffee, tea/soda), appetizer, bread, main course & dessert. Excellent food & service. Also, use your AAA card for a 10% discount on your bill.

restaurant.com

I buy several $25 gift certificates during the 80% sale and then I can buy certificates whenever I'm ready to go on my many timeshare trips. Remember when a restaurant goes out of business before you use their certificate, call restaurant.com & they will give you a credit for another certificate. When you are ready to use it, go to your account. I believe it will be under mega gift certificates. If you have any problems, either email or call. They have always been very helpful.

I used a Restaurant.com certificate at Little Venice when I was in Hilton Head. We chose to eat outside since it was a not so hot day. The inside looked a little more formal (though still casual). The food was above average. The atmosphere was very nice, overlooking the lagoon(?) and numerous yachts. I would probably repeat.

cpnuser-I checked out Montana's menu in Bluffton as I have not been there yet but it does not seem to be a Ted's Montana Grill which serves Buffalo. We tried the new one in Rhode Island last month. If there was one in SC I would go for sure.

Also I called customer service for restaurant.com as a I have a cert expiring 04/09 before I return to HH and it has to be within 90 days of purchase in order to exchange for something else listed. Someone on the board has done this and I did not know that was even an option. Sadly I purchased 4 months back. Had I called earlier I could have done that. The rep did say some restaurants will still take it. I wish I knew that before I burnt The Studio cert that just expired in my woodstove last week.

Live and learn.

Montana's in Bluffton

We had excellent ribs at Montana's. We would not have known about this restaurant without restaurantdotcom.

Nice, clean, casual place

We were expecting country music, which we like, but the music was classical. We had a lovely relaxing meal.

good service, good food

Do not follow directions from mapquest-confusing. We started down the road to Bluffton and stopped to ask for directions.

We will return on our next trip.

Thank you all for the great information. We are really looking forward to our trip to Royal Dunes the week of Sept 6-13! I wish we had the address for the Ted's Montana Grill. We could probably put it in the Garmin and get there.

Ted Montana's is not in Hilton Head area or even in South Carolina. It's a place called Montana's in Bluffton but not affliated with Ted Turner.

Thank you for that clarification PCGIRL. We are unfamiliar with the area. Thanks also for the wonderful suggestions!

Royal Dunes is in a great location right near the beach. Have a wonderful time.

L Woods

Forgot to mention LWoods, a small bar & grill. We did go there several months ago. It's located near BiLO on Coligny. I noticed now, you have to buy $50 for a $25 Restaurant. com GC. We only had to buy $35. Anyway, the food & service were excellent. Food was priced very reasonably. Also Hinchey's has a huge & delicious Grouper sandwich. Two people could split it. Enjoy your visit.
