Do any Wyndham resorts charge a Resort Fee? And if yes, is it required, or only if you want to take advantage of certain benefits like maybe the pools or fitness centers. etc.?

I'm specifically interested in Bonnet Creek. I found this
https://www.wyndhamgrandorlando.com/faq
"Do you have a resort fee?
Yes, our resort fee is $32 per day. Click here to see what’s included."

Is this for a Wyndham Hotel at Bonnet Creek as opposed to the timeshare? I've seen other posts saying it is not a fee for the timeshare.

Also, would you know of any other Wyndham resorts listed as Club Wyndham Plus resorts that would charge you a Resort Fee if you are staying there using Wyndham points? I can understand there might be different rules for people staying via an RCI trade or just paying cash through one of Wyndham's booking sites like tripbeats

Thanks!

Bonnet Creek does not charge a resort fee for a Wyndham stay.

The Wyndham Grand Hotel next to the Bonnet Creek resort charges the $32 resort fee.

The only time we were charged a resort fee at a Wyndham resort was at Kingsgate in Williamsburg. The fee is $6 per night per room but the pool area was well worth it during summertime. Very comfortable space around the outdoor pool / bar and grill, and the indoor pool / fitness and entertainment area was nice as well.

Of course all the Hawaii resorts have a state imposed tax so that is the other time we had to pay something.

Thanks for that. $6 a day isn't crazy expensive. Is it possible to break it up at all - say I don't want it the first 3 days but do want it the last 4 days of a stay?

And if all I want to do at the resort is stay in my room or go out to the car, then I don't need to pay the resort fee in most cases?

You have to pay the fee whether you use the facilities of not. I believe the fees are imposed by the HOA at the resorts, not Wyndham.

The fee covers unlimited play in the arcade (at least it used to). When our kids were younger, that made it a great deal.

Agreed. One time we stayed at Kingsgate on an RCI Extra Vacation (weeklong cash reservation) and only stayed 4 nights, but even though we were checking out early we still had to pay the resort fee for all 7 nights. At $6 it didn't bother me, but at a higher price point it probably would.

Smuggler's Notch in Vermont has a resort fee at check in based on unit size. There are a couple others I cannot remember but most do not.

You pay for EVERY day, no choice.

some of the resort in massanutten are doing the same thing.. to me its a blatant rip off to exchangers as we pay MF at our home resorts.. According to owners I talked to it only applys to exchangers, owners for resort do not pay it.

Most resorts, Wyndham included, in California charge a resort or parking fee. I just booked the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort and its $20 a day plus 10% tax. Gas Lamp in San Diego was like $35 a day.

What's next, parking fees even if you don't have a car? Check-in fees to cover the cost of checking in? Pool and pool towel fees even if you don't use the pool. WIFI fees? Hot water fees? This list can go on. . .

HOAs can add fees for anything. These fees keeps maintenance fees at that particular resort HOA lower. I don't stay at the resorts that have additional resort fees out of principle.
