One of the resorts we like in winter has become very popular to the point that it is a good idea to reserve it 24 months out. A few years ago 10 months out did the trick. The reservation must have the maintenance fee paid prior to booking. At first I thought it was because of the Pandemic and people banking their weeks making it difficult to reserve a room. I'm pretty sure all of the banked weeks are used up but the demand is still high.

I was wondering how far out do others reserve their condos.

I reserve Point @ Poipu 360 days out to get OF (float/float deed) Thanksgiving. MFs must be paid at that time unless on a monthly plan.
I reserve 24 months out at Lawai Beach to get specific room assignments (float/float deed) although I have had success at 1 year out or less as well. MFs not needed at that time.
Worldmark is difficult even at 13 months to the day/hour for popular places/dates, waitlists work pretty well however.

Demand/Competition is higher than it was in the past, it seems to me.

I wonder if anyone knows if this is more owners that are more on the ball, or exchangers, or rentals?

I think demand is way up for certain seasons at many resorts, especially with timeshares resorts. The resort I reserved at 20 months out had very little inventory left. What is crazy is a studio at this resort is going for $650+ a night in the winter season through Expedia and we pay about $1500 for a week in a two bed unit. Anyway, winter 2028 is officially reserved for us.

I got the heads up from a friend that reserved the same resort that inventory was tight for winter 2028 at our resort is why I made our reservations. There are others that wanted to go so I checked other websites and the only thing left are over priced studio units for 2028.

When you say "winter", what month are you referring to?

Jan, but hard on Feb.

I also think it's not that common to be able to book 2 years in advance. I know some do as I was able to book like 18 months out in Spain via an RCI exchange, but my floating week at Gatlinburg Town Square couldn't reserve 4th of July week 2027 when I pre-paid MF in March - said I have to call back a year out. The 2 major systems I'm in are 13 months ARP Wyndham, 12 months home week HGVC and regular bookings are 10 and 9 months out. And my Fox Run is fixed week so it's reserved out to infinity for that week as long as I have paid MFs for that year.

So I do wonder how many resorts you could book at 24 months out.

I also wonder if the points system creates issues where winter is overbooked because summer points owners are banking/borrowing to book winter?

Only UVCI resorts at 24 months out regarding reservation window.

In the past UVCI members had a choice of buying a summer or winter week. Now they only sell points that can be used for all seasons.
