QUESTION: Are the following policies standard in what you fellow TUG members are seeing? They seem overly harsh to us, and out of character for our Vacation Club generally. We'll appreciate your experience and advice.
"Modification Policies and Booking Cancellation:
...On the other hand, if the request to reschedule or cancel the reservation is made less than 30 days prior to the date stipulated for the check-in at the hotel or if the Member and / or guest did not arrive to be presented at the hotel on the corresponding date of arrival, they will lose to Royal Elite the guarantee deposit corresponding to the necessary amount to cover a night of stay for all the people and rooms involved in the reservation as it will also be deducted from the inventory the total amount of nights booked to the detriment of the Member losing the opportunity to use that inventory for future reservations."
That looks like with any change in reservation less than 30 days prior to check-in we lose the entire 1st night AI deposit and the nights of the reservation. Is that how your timeshare/Vacation Club policies work?
"In case of events of force majeure or natural disasters, such as: fires, airport closure, closure of roads, strikes, lockouts, hurricanes, severe climate and natural disasters beyond the reasonable control of the Hotel and that for these reasons we are limited by security to provide the service of hospitality; without incurring any liability penalty for Royal Elite Vacation Club, you will be able to reschedule your holiday dates or switch hotels."

This does not appear to provide any protection for the members/guests in the event of increasingly common flight cancellations and days waiting for another flight. Two of those up here in Canada in the past month with our family and friends.
