How do I go about rescinding a recently done purchase? If I’m being honest we did not really want the product. We were told it was a 90 minute presentation with no pressure to purchase anything but we felt pretty forced. Every time we said we weren’t interested or had concerns for our own budget they kept pushing the product. We ended up there for 4 and a half hours and felt like the only way out was signing up. To be quite honest, we felt like we were being held against our will at that point. Says we have 10 days in the documents to rescind and just wanted to know the best way to do that!

The instructions on the process will be in the pack that they provided you with, possibly on a thumb drive if not in the printed info. You should have the option to send a letter and possibly email. If you send a letter ensure that all those who signed the contract sign the letter and get proof of postage.

Avoid going back to the sales office as they might help, but more likely they will delay things and try and convince you to not cancel.

Don't wait, do it sooner rather than later. They are required to comply with your cancellation if it is done in the time required and by the right means, but don't expect updates and if sales phone, ignore them.

What did you buy and how much did it cost you?

All the best.

If you go to any sales presentation/owners update anywhere ever again, keep in mind that you don't owe them your presence beyond whatever time you promised them you'd listen for (the 90 minutes). Once that time has passed, you can always just get up and say that you were only being compensated for 90 minutes and start making noise. They'll finish up pretty quick at that point.

Does the letter have to be printed or can I hand write it?

They offered us 20,700 points yearly, unlimited getaways and a bonus 41,000 points for $10,000 claiming it would give us at least 11 nights of vacation yearly, they also claimed the maintenance fees and what not wouldn’t change at all for our lifetime. We figured that wasn’t entirely the truth. But at that point we had already been there for 4.5 hours and my wife was ill but forced to also attend because they told us they would not only take back the $150 gift but charge us a servicing fee for it.

Sorry you had such a bad experience.

The letter can be handwritten, it doesn't need to be typed. Keep the content simple, you don't need to provide an explanation or justification, just follow the instructions in the pack you were provided with.
All the best.

Pretty much all lies.

11 nights of vacation. That is such a lie.

Rescinding is the right thing to do!

All you need to say is, "My answer is no, and you aren't going to change my mind, no matter how long you keep me hostage."

Where was this presentation? What resort?

I made the salesperson rather angry when I told him I wouldn't buy Sheraton Flex because it's $0 resale value. He was pretty much done with me. This was at Steamboat Springs Sheraton Resort.

Vistana should be pretty easy to rescind. Read through your contract is step #1. Sheraton Vacation Club often provides an email address you can use to rescind. As a backup, it is also suggested to send a letter via USPS mail. If email is an option just send the mailed letter via USPS First Class Mail (stamp) and go to the post office to mail it. Ask for a Certificate of Mailing. This is proof given to you with a postmarked stamp on it showing the to and from address. You don't necessarily need tracking but can go all out with USPS Certified Mail if you want. It just costs a lot more and is slow. USPS First Class with Certificate of Mailing should be less than four bucks.

One in Orlando. We were staying at a Marriott and we asked how to book a shuttle and the lady at the desk wouldn’t tell us until she gave us a whole 20 minute conversation about attending. She equally wouldn’t take no for an answer about attending one and we were in a rush to make our reservation.

We are a little confused. We have 2 different papers that mention cancellation. One is our states disclosure statement and the other is the page about what we purchased. I assume the one with the Sheraton address is the one we are looking for? The other one is just our states bureau of subdivided land sales.

Use whichever one sets out the instructions for the methods of cancellation, as @dioxide45 says, usually there is an address you can write to and also an email.

And is our contract # just our account #?

Typically the answer to that is yes.

Include a statement saying you are cancelling the contract. Keep it simple, no explanation needed

Include the following

1. Full names of everyone who signed the original contract
2. Signatures of everyone who signed the original contract.
3. Date the signatures.
4. What you purchased, including the date, location, and the contract/account #.
5. Anything else that is included in the cancellation section of the contract you have.
