Resale-Combining StarOptions

I think DeniseL's summary is correct. We ended up with 2 or 3 different topics in this thread, which confused me, too! :D

Question  ? If I buy a resale at a mandatory resort can I now combine the Staroptions with the developer purchased unit I own?

If this new rule is the real deal - Yes.

Now, I am totally confuse. Didn't you requalify? Shouldn't you be able to convert to starpoint. I am confused with this thread. Can someone summarize the new policy.

Yes, if you requalify, it's as if you bought straight from Starwood in the first place so you CAN get SOs and SPs and go towards elite. But in order to requalify, you have to buy a resale AND then buy a new unit at full price from Starwood. I don't think that's what we are talking about.

I think the new policy is for people who have resale M resorts. Let's say you own a Kierland 1BR platinum worth 81,000 SOs and a SVV Mandatory section 2BR worth 81,000. Both bought on resale so you NEVER got anything from Starwood directly.

Well, now you can combine your two 81,000 SO units and book a 2BR LO at WMH or WKORV or wherever. It would require 148,100 SOs and you'd be good to go. Or, book a 1BR at someplace like WKORV and stay for 10-11 days. But as Denise L points out, you gotta wait till the 8 month mark since you don't own at these other resorts.

Thanks...I am all clear now...

Starwood changes policy so often that I can never keep up...

Ensure the names on the deeds are exactly the same..

Very important for both resort and exchange system policies....

If you are adding another ownership- be sure your deeds show the exact same names or you can have a very difficult time combining the accounts. This has been a consistent problem for clients that originally purchased in their own names, and later added another ownership and tried to include an additional name such as a child.

Check with owner services before providing deeding info to your closing agent to ensure you'll be OK..

Excellent point, Richard, especially if you are holding titles in a revocable trust. Sometimes the closer with change the way you designate title and you will not notice it until it has already been processed with Starwood.:crash:

It Happened!

Before this thread, I called SVO because my mystarcentral options kept showing up only as my resale options, not as my developer options. The rep promised it would be fixed and that it was different because I had 2 accounts.

Over the next 2 weeks the display would show resale options and developer options on different days (I'm not an IT tester so I didn't go thru all the combinations to see when it did what). So I called back again Sunday and told them I keep seeing only my WKV (resale) options and not all my options. I played dumb and just said I wanted all my options to show up. After much typing by the rep he said the IT guys had to fix it on Monday but that it would be done.

I just logged in and all my options are showing up! I'm officially combined!! Woo hoo! Time to try to reserve my week in a 3br in WSJ!!

I'll let y'all know what happens when I try to reserve something with them combined.

I can't wait to hear. I hope you can grab a 3BR at WSJ!! That would be awesome use of your resales. K
