Hi All,

Just looking to see if anyone has experience renting out their DVC Points. I own two contracts, One is 100 Points at Copper Creek and 220 at the Hawaiian Resort. Looking to rent out the 100 points contract for this year.

Thanks for any advice.

Using one of the larger borkers is probably the easiest thing to do. There are other avenues that will return more money, but they are all more work. The ones i know of are:

Note that I haven't used any of them, and don't have an opinion on which one is likely to be better or worse.

Once upon a time we used David's but over the past decade or so we've rented through the DVC Rental Store whenever we had points we couldn't use. Very easy to find and claim reservation requests, get paid under favorable terms, and work with them in general.

You could also try to rent them out directly but I never felt the effort was worth the few extra dollars.

I also prefer DVC Rental Store because they offer the best terms. They are also super clear and quick with communications and just overall professional and easy o work with.

DVC Rental Store's best payouts are for making reservations and listing them. I book what I think will rent, mostly the nicer resorts like Riviera, and I use a larger number of points to book less reservations over the year. I have one listed for 153 points I hope to rent. Lots of time, it's for June.

I have had my points for over 25 years. Always used points for ourselves - but many years ago I used the DVC Rental Store for one./as did one of my sons. One of my sons cancelled and I needed to use the points (they both own small contracts buy I transfer or book also of them with mine). I looked for a confirmed reservation on their website and grabbed one to book. Quick and easy. It has been years.

Many years down the road - most recent (long story/DH sick/passed) - had extra points needed to use, I could not remember the company and I rented out a few set/short reservations that I made with dvc-rental-com (I actually thought this was the one I had used prior). Same scenario, I just booked a few shorts stays. They are great to work with/respond quickly via text, phone or email.

I am not sure if The Rental Store now requires one to give them our dvc member information and they book for you. I am not comfortable with that.

I think you will be fine with any of them. I was a bit nervous when I first rented out my first reservation. Not something I normally do. Good luck!

I like DVC-Rental.com They are a smaller shop but have a core of regulars who rent from them. They also have a goofy slogan - "Remember the dash to save the cash".

Regardless of the company, you will get the best success rate if you contact them 11+ months before a busy season like Fall and let them know your home resort and how many points you have available.

I have twice through Dave's. Don't know if the link above still works. Used to do it myself just
person to person on wdw.info. before scams, never had a problem. But things have changed. I might with someone I know on TUG.

I have been renting out privately (never used a third party middleman) since 2002. Just to pay our dues, which are crazy as we have 18 contracts we've accumulated over the years.

DisBoards is a great spot -- you have to pay in order to rent out but I find the renters there very savvy, so less work to explain things through. Facebook groups have been alit on DVC rentals for the last 5 or so years. I even rented a couple times over Reddit. It just depends on where you run into people who want the resorts you want to rent that year :)
