What is the best advice for me to rent out a week I have in April for the Marriott Grand Vista Resort that I have booked through Interval?

Don't. All reservations made via II are not allowed to be rented out or sold on.

If it's an exchange you can retrade or cancel it, so there is no need to break the rules. If its a non-cancellable getaway then find a friend or family member who will go in your place.

If Interval catches you renting, they may suspend your membership and cancel that week. So, both the renter and the rentee suffer. Also, if your renter trashes the place, you may be financially responsible for the repairs.

If you own a deeded week, you can (usually) rent that week because it doesn't involve Interval.

Ohhh, way better than that, scammers know its not allowed so they rent the II reservation and then "innocently" call II or the resort and "accidently" disclose that its a rental. II don't know if the person renting was innocently scammed or not, so they suspend the member's account and insist that they refund the renter before then account is released, but they leave the reservation in place, so the scammer gets a free week. Who knows if that is actually a thing in reality, but you can be sure that if it is scammers are on to it and will exploit it if they can.

As others have said, you can only rent your home Resort week.

You do not own an Interval acquired week and therefore can not rent it. If you do rent it then you risk your membership.

Other people have correctly noted that it is against the rules to rent an II trade, and there are potential consequences in doing so.

The "best advice" to rent an II week is to rent it to a friend or family member and tell them if they tell the resort or II that they rented it, that they will lose the reservation and your account will be suspended. Obviously only rent to someone you trust implicitly. Many people do that all the time with zero consequences. Despite this being the "best advice," it still is not great advice as it would be advising you how to break II rules.

I don't know if it is an actual ongoing scam by the same people, but I do know of at least one instance where it's happened. Are there more?
