Renting Deposited RCI week/points?

Hi,

We deposited our 2015 week and it looks like we might not be able to use it. So I was thinking about renting it. I have never done this before and was hoping to get some help/guidance.

I called RCI and they said renting to a friend or relative is not a problem. They would issue a guest certificate? I could book it in their name.

The thing is: we have a specific week with the resort but once we deposited, that week turned into points. So I am not sure how to list it?

I did random searches on RCI, and it looks as though we could go just about anywhere we want. Dates are the key. Again, not sure how to list this...

ANY help is appreciated.

Andrea

You got a little bit of misinformation from the RCI rep. Yes, you can get a Guest Certificate however renting an exchange is prohibited by RCI. You could definitely "give" it to a friend or relative but if you list the exchange for rent in a public forum you risk having your RCI membership suspended and the exchange canceled. This is detailed on each Guest Certificate and in RCI's Membership Terms.

I'd look for a friend or relative who wants to go away and then search for a location that suits them.

Ugh, why would they said it was okay? That sucks.

Because you said "friend or relative" most likely.

But renting is strictly prohibited. There are ways around it; you tell your renter to say they're your guest and not your renter, but that's technically against the rules and no TUGger would recommend it.

I am pretty sure he said that. I bet that recording will never be found...

Okay, what about my 2016 week in Bonaire. It has not been banked.

Could I rent that?
