REnting DC points - how confirm ownership?

Hi, I am looking for a small points transfer. I completed one on blind faith with a very friendly and efficient individual ( I think a TUG member) just last month. We just emailed one another and completed the transaction. It was small, so I didn't worry about too much verifying and checking.

I am looking for another transfer/rental and hoped to do it with the same person, but alas....no more 2012 points.

So it occurred to me that I didn't really know what to ask for if I wanted to somehow confirm the status and actual ownership of the points before sending money.

Any ideas on this? I am not looking for anything that would be onerous and maybe quite frankly, its not worth it, but surely there should be some way going forward ( short of a complicated contract) to just quickly verify.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Another approach would be for someone to send you a screenshot from the MVCI website or do a conference call for the whole transaction with MVCI.

Those ar good idea and simple approaches... Just enough to confirm that they have the points available in the right year and are of clean status. I thought of a 3 way call, but wondered if the "seller" would feel uncomfortable confiming personal data with a stranger on the line. I might.

A 3-way call really would be the best perhaps, because the rep could look at both accounts simultaneously and make sure that the points match up correctly to achieve the desired purpose.

Thanks, Denise.

A few of those items could work.

I guess I am not even questioning so much the confirmation of "ownership" even though that is the word I used, but rather, do they have the points available and are they of the correct status ( use year, no cancellation points, etc) for me to use and combine with my points.

Since the product is still relatively new, an owner willing to transfer could conceivably not fully understand fully what they have and misprepresent it in error, since there are many nuances still being learned ( at least for me).
