Renter verification of unit

I have had zero issues with Renters - there has never been a confusion. Although I have only rented about 20 times.
I am not even sure what the Front Desk is going to say months in advance - they are not connected to the SVO/SVN reservation system - waste of everyone's time...

btw - SVO Owner Services requires the renter's name, address, phone number, and email to transfer a reservation. I have OS send the reservation confirmation (in their name) to them. It would be an quite a scam to rip someone off, that also includes an ad on RW, and a clear rental agreement as part of the PayPal invoice - with me as a verified PayPay user. As well as references, plus presence on TUG, and they have my contact info. If they are Still thinking this is a elaborate scam, and want to bust my balls that they called they also contacted the Front Desk and could not confirm, then I have no desire to have them as Renters.

Again - has never happened.

I'm with David on this one (although I've rented "only" a dozen times).

The renter needs to trust me; I earn that trust by clear communication and copying the renter on the reservation. I am transparent.

I don't know if a potential renter ever called Starwood; it has never been an issue. But if a renter needs that many levels of verification, I would rather rent to someone else. I price my units fairly, have never been unable to rent a unit I wanted to rent, and would prefer to exit a transaction early that looks like it could be more trouble than it's worth.

The renters that won't call the central reservations number are almost always problem children:

-Can't follow or didn't read instructions
-Think "they know better"
-Suspicious

They usually end up making themselves even more suspicious when they call the wrong number - or multiple wrong numbers, and can't confirm!

I had one this week who called the front desk, and also some wrong number that wasn't even a Starwood number. They were told, "That's not one of our resorts," - of course it didn't occur the them that they CALLED THE WRONG NUMBER!

I also think that some of them are actually just stalling, because they aren't ready to make their final payment...

What would happen if front desk just redirected your call to central reservations or asked you to call 1800STARWOOD and check with them?
That would be fine. It would solve all our problems, wouldn't it?
I already wonder why they don't do that.

The renters that won't call the central reservations number are almost always problem children

So why, if there's this simple solution to a problem that seemingly occurs with many Starwood rentals... why blame the renter? Why call them "problem children" and talk crap about them? Try to be a little more professional, maybe? Realize that this problem has a simple solution that Starwood does not employ and put the blame where it belongs.

Let's try one more time...
The Front-desks at the resorts are not set up to verify reservations in the SVO system and they have no motivation to do so. They have no reason to cater to people renting from Owners - they are not in that business nor is there any profit in it. They have their own reservation system for renters - SPG - that is quite capable of confirming reservations made directly thru them - at a high premium.

I am really unclear of why you seem to have a hard time grasping this - it now is bordering on the absurd, and has gotten clearly tangental to the OP.

This has gotten so ridiculous that I actually called WKV front desk to inquire about a reservation made thru SVO/SVN - they told me to call Owner Services.
Move on to another windmill...

VegasBella - A gentle reminder: This type of obsessive oppositional behavior is exactly what got you suspended from TUG the last time. Since you aren't even a Starwood owner, why don't you go bother another forum?
