Rental reservation Number Changed

I am going to chime in one more time. (Ugh! I must be nuts to keep posting on this thread)

Keep in mind I do not know a lot about Wyndham. But- here goes-

Even if she booked a back-up, as you suggested is a possibility; when she booked the backup one now, how then did she get the exact unit for that reservation if the original booked unit was already booked for that same unit?

I am thinking she did not have a backup since i am in the same unit as originally confirmed.

Again, I am just interested for knowledge sake.

She never needed the back up if she had one and was able to get yours discounted. It can be very easy or like others have said a nightmare. A lot depends on the skill and knowledge of the owner. I would not be comfortable with most people doing it as the risk would be to high.

I am sorry that I upset you with my misleading statement.

I'm not in the least upset. We're mostly just here to learn and help each other.

Like I said, the statement I took issue with was that there are ways to re-book with no risk. There aren't.

I understand the context. There risk-free ways of avoiding having an irate customer. But, they all involve the risk of losing money on the transaction. I can't pay full price in points and rent for the discounted price.

And that is the basic issue for owners who deal with the public ... an educated customer includes those who understand a business MUST earn money on the transaction (the RENTAL). Yes, there are SOMETIMES an owner or vendor who will accept a price UNDER their costs ... for some "reason" (a prior booking was cancelled after being paid) ... but people and their "internet friends" continue to TRY and get "that" price or lower (their "dream world" price).

Then someone says, "I rented that week last year for $650" when I am asking $1275 ... I suggest they email/call that owner as I have nothing at that rate. Or instead of the deluxe 1bdr unit, I offer an "off branded resort" STUDIO/hotel room size unit if the size of their party will fit. And I have persons who "insist" I will be calling them when I don't get it rented ... then they will ONLY be offering a LOWER price. I tell that person, "call the resort rental pool ... they get my unrented units".

DUH? So welcome to the "Wonderful World of Internet" ... have a thick skin and KNOW your COST and price points. And YOUR "Last Minute" options.
