Hi;
Capital vacations has agreed to relinquish two timeshare weeks at one of their associated resorts.
They want a check payable to them for processing fees, etc. and a check made out to the resort.
There is no mention of escrow account or safeguards to me sending them this money.
Does anyone have experience with this process and information would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Fyi, there is a Capital Vacations sub-section in the "All Other Timeshare Systems" forum. Your inquiry would likely be seen by more people with direct knowledge and experience regarding Capital Vacations' procedures (and customary costs) if posted there instead of in this "Buying, Selling & Renting" forum. Citing specific figures quoted to you by Capital would also be helpful in assessing the legitimacy and wisdom of pursuing this "opportunity".

Good Luck --- parting company with Capital Vacations, one way or another, will surely be a very satisfying experience for you.

I doubt there is much risk in them taking your money and disappearing.

that said, there is absolutely no reason NOT to retain copies of all documents/emails/etc discussing the arrangement you have agreed to in relinquishing your timeshare back DIRECTLY to capital resorts for a set amount of money.

this is quite common, assuming again you are working directly with capital resorts vs some other entity.

How much are they charging?

Capital Vacations, LLC is charging $960.00 which is $480.00 / week that I am relinquishing to them and also a fee to the resort.

I will still be hoping to give it away. I can do the closing for $26 + $200 transfer fee.

I'm not quite sure of your response.
Our resort uses Capital vacations which now handles their resort.
These weeks may never be bought from the ads on this site.

The fee to the resort, whose actual cost you have not identified, could be either a "transfer fee" (not unusual) or the satisfaction of a outstanding maintenance fee balance.

If you can deedback two weeks for $960 and permanently rid yourself of any further association with Capital Vacations, I'd personally be inclined to get out the checkbook and start writing. You would not likely recover more (if anything at all) by trying to sell those weeks --- and you may have difficulty even giving them away for free. I would strongly recommend giving this easy and lawful exit opportunity serious consideration if you are no longer interested in actually owning / using those weeks.

It is of course entirely your decision to make. I wish you luck --- and congratulations if you do ultimately decide to bid farewell to Capital Vacations. :wave:
