What is the worst gift you ever received? Was it regifted?

My sister in law would send me clothing items that I would never wear. I have no idea if they were regifted.

We do not regift items. We will donate them to a local charity organization.

Hmmm... while wrapping this year, and putting away more things for later because I bought too much (DH says AGAIN), I was thinking it might be fun to have a rule to only give away things we already have. Not used, new, just never given away as originally intended.

My worst was in a gift exchange where I got a pouch o hold a pack of cigarettes. I do not smoke
But my birthday is the 23rd and every Christmas a friend gives me a gift bag loaded with regifts for birthday and Christmas. A Christmas candle, an ornament, Christmas hand soap, etc. sometimes given to me on Christmas night.

I have regifted some duplicate children's toys or books that our kids got for Christmas when they were small. If they were a duplicate and couldnt be returned, I would put them aside and use them as gifts for their friends when one of our kids were invited to a birthday party. There were usually only a couple each year.

My sister was a school teacher, teaching french to all the kids in the school, not just 1 class, so she would get lots of gifts. We, and other family members, often got gifts she didnt want or were duplicate. A few times the original gift card was still buried in the tissue paper around the gift. One re-gift that she gave me was very nice and I still use it -a glass pickle dish with 3 sections and a nice etched design. She donated most of the hand creams or body lotions she got as gifts to her local women's shelter.

My wife and my mother would regift each other a "politically incorrect" item each year as a joke. But that probably doesn't count

I do remember re-gifting an item once. I had gotten a fish tray (don't know what else to call it). I knew we wouldn't use it and I wanted to get something like that for my parents. They liked it, we didn't need it so everyone was happy.

Hmmm. So she is just being cheap. Return the items to her that you have no use for! Tell her she can regift them to someone else.

Until I moved far enough away, I very, very often got either the same gift as last year (sometimes three or four years in a row). Or I'd get something that was thoughtful. But I already had one.

With the former, I absolutely regifted. And the latter, I'd find a place that would allow a return for store credit, and then buy something else.

I assume this was said just before the purchase: "Look! An Italian pasta machine! He loves making fresh pasta. We should buy that."

Problem is, yes, I love making fresh pasta. So I have all that stuff already.

I remember the Seinfeld episode with the regifted "Label Baby," where accusations were made between characters about that gift being regifted. All Seinfeld episodes were funny, but that one sticks in my mind more than most.

Rick and I refer to our label maker, which I use to organize pantry drawers, as "label baby." Have you seen the Label Baby?"

Made for a great 22 minutes of comedy.

She has regifted things I gave her to me.
Another thing she did was when she received a top that was too small and could not return it, she wrapped it up and gave it to me. Of course it was still too small
