Hello everyone- quick question:

If you use Redweek's Escrow service for rentals, do they send you a W-9 at the end of the year if you are the owner? or is it simply a place to hold money until the week is used?

I never agree to use escrow - no benefit to the owner.

Same policy here as articulated by DeniseM. NO escrow.

For me, the problem with Red Week's escrow service is that the door is open for the renter to allege that the accommodations were not to their satisfaction......perhaps because they had a miserable week due to poor weather, unhappy kids, not enough sex, or God knows whatever else could hamper someone's vacation (and represented in such a way by the renter that Red Week escrow service may be sympathetic to their cause).

By saying no to escrow, we don't have to worry how some third-party at Red Week's escrow service may handle a claim by the renter.

In my opinion, if the potential renter doesn't like my policy, that's OK, they can go to some other landlord, who may be amenable to escrow.

What....you are supposed to have sex on vacation? Of all the great things I have learned on Tug...why has there never been a post about this before. This should be a Sticky. :D ;)

p.s. Keep your sticky jokes to yourselves. :p

Sticky indeed. I predict such a thread would last in the minutes range.

It was posted on a Sunday .. the moderators were taking a day of rest and thinking pure and clean thoughts. ;)

As for the OP, it was Sunday and perhaps, a moment of reflection is needed?

Another NO vote for escrow and rental clients .... I pay the MFs in advance and the rents cover those bills. I am not in the "try it and pay how much YOU think it is worth" business 30 days after checkout.

PS Have dealt with the Redweek staff on a dispute (may not be the same RW crew) when dealing with a "difficult" person ... it worked out then ... but renters can and do expect the owner (who is the last link of an escrow deal) to be INSURING their idea of a "perfect" vacation and outcome.

Soooooooooooooo..... after all the bad sex, and all the posts, has anyone used the escrow service? I'm only interested to find out if they send a 1099 or not.

Thanks...
