I signed a rental agreement with a timeshare broker located in the Orlando area (I recognize the area code as Orlando 407) for a Newport Coast summer week. I am the lowest price on Redweek for that particular week, June 4-11 so I got a few responses right away.

As I said, I signed the agreement but the broker's name was on the renter's side. That was on December 2.

The company is called the Timeshare Brokers. I realize they will be re-renting my week. The promised date for delivery of my check is BY December 10th.

Should I be worried? I have never encountered this before. I have always rented my weeks, or points, and gotten paid in full immediately through PayPal.

I don't know if the rental broker looks at TUG but I just got a call from the guy and he says the check will be in the mail tomorrow or Wednesday. I hope he is legit. I really hope so. I do know that he woke up my 7 year old grandson, 10 PM EST, who is staying with me overnight.

I have done a lot of rentals with them - you will be fine. They are going to have you put the reservation in their renter's name.

*Remember that you always have control of your reservations. If you ever have a rental that goes south, you just call Marriott and put the reservation back in your own name.

I feel much better. I got burned badly by a resale broker 6 years ago and I've never shaken the feeling of dread ever since.

I was just going to send this rental broker a poison email. I'm glad I read this post before I hit send. Thanks Denise

Since YOU always have control of your reservation, it shouldn't be possible to get burned.

I guess they do!

I feel nothing will go wrong. Until you have the money in your hands you may not get paid. The unit may be damaged or the a chargeback or even a request for a refund for whatever reason even after you have the money.

A lot of things can happen.

I have done a lot of successful rentals with this company and they are great to work with and very professional.

Me as well. I am just saying in general one should always be careful and realize they can be burned.
