www.redweek.com is just another sales rental direct exchange point website. It is a for profit website, that has decent traffic. I have rented units through it before, but it has no special relationship with HGVC.

Restarting... Welcome to the world of HGVC.
"Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain." -- Wizard of Oz. Redweek is a stand-alone product which individuals can use, as they wish, to buy, sell, rent or exchange units among themselves. It has no formal tie-in with or even an ownership requirement in any resort. It has no relationship with HGVC.
Hilton has an arrangment with RCI which allows you to call HGVC and "exchange" your points for available RCI properties. Its kind'a like depositing a unit, but your currency is your points. Nothing, however, keeps you from using Redweek to expand your options.
If you are looking for an alternative trading company, I would recommend San Francisco Exchange Company. They have taken very good care of my buyers. Any of my buyers who want to sign up, email me and they will give you 18 month free Platinum membership. Any other owners who want to sign up, email me and they will give you a 9 month free Platinum membership.

Seth, I have had ZERO luck with SFX and deposited a Wyndham Kona Village 2 bedroom for July 4th week for 2008. They cannot, or will not, give me anything much at all for that deposit. I requested Maui and Kauai a couple of different times, and I wasn't asking for specific dates, and I wasn't asking for prime season at all.
I am very disappointed with SFX and would not recommend them, even though I have a platinum membership.

On a side note, I just went over to the SFX link and looked at their directory.
Take a careful look at their Continental US map....Not sure who drew it....but some states have some pretty interesting new shapes!
