Recission email does not work. Do not use

FYI. I am in the process of cancelling a new contract. Want to let others know that the email address mentioned in this group and elsewhere does not work. I have mailed my letter USPS certified, but was going to email as a backup l when I discovered the email addresses are invalid.
recission.wvr@wyn.com and recissions.wvr@wyn.com DO NOT WORK. Don't count on this method. Use the mail.

Maybe rescission.wvr@wyn.com or rescissions.wvr@wyn.com will work. (The word rescission is misspelled in your post, is missing an s.)

What did they attempt to sell to you? Curious because we are seeing $125K for 400K points, which can be had for free, so 100% loss of value the day you sign on the dotted line. It's like taking a match to a pile of cash.

600K Club Wyndham Access points for $180,000. Tried to tell me those were enough points to pay my monthly fees for Bali Hai, where I am PR owner with 1.7Mil points per year. I fell for it because they explained it like a HELOC and I thought I was borrowing from my own equity. I was really stupid and rescinded this morning first thing. Wanted to let others know the email is bogus. I went to USPS and did certified and to UPS for overnight.
 
interesting, while I wholeheartedly agree that one should NEVER rely on email in lieu of sending a legitimate letter, I just tried the email provided in our sticky and did not get any bounce notification?

in fact I got an auto-reply indicating not only is it indeed monitored and valid, but confirming my message was sent and someone would get back to me within 10 days.

Same here - copy/paste FTW to avoid spelling/grammar issues/errors. :cool:
 
I recommend USPS and also send a fax to the fax number Wyndham shows in your contract.
When I rescinded a contract I hand wrote the letter and asked the front desk at the resort to send it.
They returned in a couple minutes with a fax confirmation from the receiver at the wyndham fax number.
The next day I got a call to confirm.
 
$180,000 for 600K points?

Do you know how much Disney you could buy for that money, and Disney is not worth $0 after you sign. Such a better value. If you have the cash, you should get Disney points.

wow, i missed the amount. 160,000 dollars for wyndham points? you might have set a record with that cancellation!

You were very lucky! I have read where others have done that and the front desk or sales office trashed the request to protect the sales person's commission and save the sale.
Sending the cancellation request by the exact method specified, to the address listed, in the sales contract is always the safest way to cancel.

I asked to see the fax return confirmation. Most fax systems send that info back immediately. My contract listed a fax as a viable method to rescind. Perhaps that is not in newer contracts?

Wow, outrageous! Congrats!! btw my first intro to timesharing, and only-ever developer purchase, was a contract from Fairfield which became Wyndham, back in 1997. I went home with a few pangs, figured out how to use the ancient internet search engines like Lycos and Altavista in the days before google, somehow discovered what a mistake I'd made, rescinded ASAP, and soon after found early TUG bulletin board. Since then, almost 30 years of timesharing plus heavy internet reliance, since that was the first time I'd used, and searched the internet, for anything!! That whole event, which I fell for because I wanted that free dinner at Red Lobster, introduced me to so much that changed my life.
 
Never use email because if for any reason it doesn't get through you're cooked.
ALWAYS use USPS registered mail, signature required, return receipt. It must be postmarked by the date according to your contract which varies by state. I think Florida is 10 days, but Colorado is 5 days, not business days, just 5 days.
And under new USPS rules the post office is not required to postmark the letter when you drop it off, but instead when they decide to process it.
So, be prepared to act quickly if you wish to rescind - or better yet just buy resale if you don't need the VIP benefits.
