I have a friend that bought at Occidental Grand Cozumel in Mexico from the developer last week.

Does anyone know how long they would have to recind? I don't want to mention reciniding unless they could actually recind.

Most contracts I've heard are 5 days to rescind. Not a lot of time for your friend. Good luck to him/her, and you may want to advise your friend to follow the rescission instructions to the 'T.'

Do you know exactly the day they purchased?

Sometimes there are other things done/said that can be cause of a deal breaker.

By Mexican law, you have five business days to cancel the contract after you have signed it. Business days do not include Saturday and Sunday. If you go to the Mexico forum on Tug there is a “Sticky” tread titled, “Know your rights of rescission before attending a Mexican timeshare presentation”. The subject is discussed in detail.

Thanks for all the replies. The sticky was helpful too. They bought over 5 days ago and are happy with their purchase because of the incentives. I did not pursue the issue any further since it appears that there may be little they can do and no desire to do so anyway.
