I went to Best Buy on Thanksgiving and bought a Fire Tablet - love it. My wife was impressed and said she wanted one. I went back to Best Buy early Black Friday morning and it was sold out. So I ordered her one on Amazon.com.
Delivery is projected to be between December 22-24.

She's excited.

Enjoying mine right now. My experience was the opposite. I ordered on Amazon early Friday morning, but delivery date on Amazon was as yours is, so hubby went to Best Buy and they had quite a few of them so he snatched up 2 and then I cancelled my Amazon order.

I bought mine because of comments made to another post regarding which one to choose. After reading many reviews, I went ahead and 'up-paid' for the child friendly model. My understanding is that it is the same as the adult version with a few features that appealed to me because as "grandma" I plan to be more generous with letting the 3 and 4 year old use it. Also, I'm the type to drop it myself so the heavy duty case and warranty were a little bit for me as well. My only concern is the program which controls what the kids can see -- hope it's not too complicated for Grandma to figure out how to over-ride for my own viewing pleasure. Bought on Amazon, it is supposed to ship next week. Side note. The other day my grandson asked me what I wanted for Christmas -- and wondered about a bike for me. I guess this is my Merry Christmas to ME. Perhaps I'll save it for under the tree.

Update:

The projected delivery date on my Amazon Fire order for my wife was between December 22 to 24.

The Fire arrived today. She is thrilled with the early delivery.
