I recently found out that RCI weeks members can renew and get some pretty good discounts---and a free bonus week. When I called to inquire about any specials for RCI points members, I was told there aren't any for points members, just weeks members. Why don't the points members get the same sort of deals ---at least the free bonus week, since we are weeks members too?!

I renewed for 4 years. The guide told me with a 3 or more year renewal you get a free "Last Call" week. I renewed yesterday and have until May 30 to use the last call week. She said it could be used for any sized unit.

THat's the free week I was talking about, plus there was about $8- $10 a year knocked off if you renewed for more than one year.

slabeaume,

RCI relies on member deposits in the Weeks system. Renewals for RCI Weeks can also be paid in advance. In the Points system, inventory is deposited in advance and renewals are paid only for the current year. Vacation-based incentives such as Last Call are offered to both Weeks and Points members. Additionally, services such as extensions, once available only in RCI Weeks, are now also available in RCI Points.

Because these two programs are separate and distinct from each other, the incentives and special offers will often be different as well. There have been special offers just for Points members in the past - for example, discounted points required for close-date vacations. These and other promotions may continue to be offered from time to time in response to varying demand for last-minute Points inventory.

Special events such as our current Dream Big Sweepstakes are frequently available to both Weeks and Points members. These events are fun for members and help to drive our business, so I anticipate we will continue to host them.

THanks for the response Madge.

While we're on the subject of weeks and points, I have another question. I have a weeks only resort deposited to RCI and am waitlisted for Hawaii. Someone told me that that week deposit could be converted to points. Is that true? If so, is there a fee and would my chances of getting an exchange in Hawaii better that way? Plus I understand with a points exchange i wouldn't have the 3 in 1 rule. Does that apply to a week converted to points deposit?
Thanks,Sue

Sue,

If you are already a Points member, you might ask a Points Guide to check availability in Hawaii using Points. You can then use Points-for-Deposit to receive points for your Weeks deposits if you wish.

Restrictions like the one-in-four rule do not apply to strictly Points transactions. There is not currently a fee for Points-for-Deposit requests; however, this may change in the future.
