Well, I was about to pay for an ongoing search, thinking that the $35 credit I have on the books from an international/domestic search that I matched for a US resort would be applied to the search fee of $164, resulting in a charge of $129 to my cc for this new search. Wrong!!! I have to call to have that credit returned to my cc and pay $164 to institute a new search. I had no idea that the $35 displayed on the RCI website had to be claimed since it was called a credit,!

I just think that this is a lousy way to do business. RCI has my cc# and could easily refund the difference since it is not their money.

I plan on calling later today to see if a human will apply the money to the new fee and, if not, to get my money back.

They've always applied a credit automatically to my charges when doing a transaction on the phone. The online system doesn't seem to be able to do this... very frustrating.

Not only that, but you called them to confirm... is that going to result in the new $189 exchange fee?

If this is a generalized RCI customer service rant, then I'll contribute another:
- They don't give any statements for Points users-- no accounting (and they Do make errors.)

Nice guy in tech support

After being transferred from a VC to tech support, I got connected to a very helpful man, who agreed with my frustrations about not being able to apply my credit to the cost of a new ongoing search, recognized that this was a problem, and admitted that the RCI website has problems. He also agreed that in this day and age any monies due to a member should be refunded to the cc used immediately.

He himself was frustrated at the amount of time it took to process my $35 refund back to me.

So, I instituted my ongoing search just now. It will be interesting to see if my request for a specific week for any of 4 specific resorts in
Rhode Island will come thru just 6 months out....
