I have both a Weeks and Points Account with RCI. Has anyone figured out if they are better off using their week as TPU's (which are constantly changing) OR just depositing their week into their POINTS account for the $26 fee? Thanks.

This is a decision you have to make based on the value of your week as a week, as opposed to the value as PFD.

For example, I get 45,500 points for $500 MF's for my Colorado week, but I get 24 points for that week, so I choose to use it as the week. I get my bang for my buck.

YMMV....

the PFD are a fixed grid. The TPUs are set when you deposit (although some have said they can increase after deposit). You can always put in weeks, and if you can't use the TPUs by 90 days out, transfer over to PFD. I have a no-name local resort that we normally use--it gets 19 TPUs or 47,500 RCI points. I take the points on that one. Another gets 38 TPUs and 72,500 points, I take the TPUs. Plus, with RCI points, you can deposit as late as 90 days out for full points--I like this, in case we decide to use the local place.

The RCI Points / Weeks crossover grid overaverages too many things to get to their numbers, so there is no fixed answer. If it is in the low end of its segment, it is likely to have higher value as PFD, but if at the upper end, it will probably have more punch in Points Lite. You need to analyze your specific week and make the comparision.

Also, some areas that are underpointed in Points Lite are properly valued in regular points and even on the crossover (PFD) grid.

The long and short of it is that there is no one answer. It depends on your particular week and how it is valued in each system.

I didn't know that you could change a week from points to PFD. Do they charge a fee for this? I mean other than the PFD fee.

Lisa,
The properties they are talking about are not points ownerships at an RCI Points resort. They are talking about weeks ownerships that are at a non-RCI Points resort. In this case, they can either PFD the week for RCI points with a Points Account, or deposit the week for TPU in a Weeks Account.

You can't de-enroll a previously converted RCI Points ownership and use it for PFD, because it is still at an RCI Points resort. PFDs can only be done at a non-Points Resort.

The benefit of using PFD is that you can determine each year (and throughout the year) how much goes to Points and how much goes to Weeks based on where you get the best value. Some exchanges are better (or only possible) in one or the other Once you know how much you need in one versus the other, it's a pretty simple calculation to determine which weeks are best through PFD and which are best left in Weeks.

I understood that. I just didn't know that you could deposit a fixed week into the weeks side and then change it into a PFD. I thought that once it went into the weeks side then it was stuck there.

I've always deposited into RCI Weeks first and then PFDed it from there (through a Vacation Guide) when/if I wanted to PFD it.

Hmmm.
So if I deposit a week to my free Wyndham weeks account and later want to convert it to PFD in my RCI points account this can be done although they are two different systems? I thought you could only do this if you deposited the week to your free weeks account that you get with your RCI points account.
I think I'll give them a call.
