RCI presentations in my hometown?

Tonight I got a phone call from RCI. They invited me to lunch to find out how I can more effectively use my RCI membership. When I said I was interested, they switched me to another person who said that my husband would have to attend with me for the 90 minute presentation. I said no.

Why is RCI in my medium sized town in Colorado for several presentations? Anyone else get this call?

What are they selling?

RCI Weeks to Points

Do you own an RCI Week rather than RCI Points? If you own a week, they almost certainly are going to propose that you pay a "small fee" to convert from weeks to points.

I'm sure it wasn't RCI that called. I have gotten several calls from these companies and it is definitely a scam. They tell you it is RCI. I went to one of the presentations out of curiosity. They tried to sell me a TS in Florida. Can't remember the name now but it was one nobody would want. It was supposedly a cheap way into points but it was way overpriced. He was much worse than the average salesmen at the resorts. Almost every word out of his mouth was a lie or misinformation. I finally had enough and called him on all his lies. He mumbled something, got up from the table and left.

Another abuse of the RCI name. RCI has nothing to do with it. RCI doesn't give presentations.

The only exchange company that does anything like holding local meetings for members that really have anything to do with the actual exchange process is DAE with its road shows, and that is only done, as far as I am aware, in the UK.

Any other call you get about a local meeting that claims to be an exchange company is a scammer. The fact that they claim to be from an exchange company is a huge red flag. Since they are clearly lying about that, how much more will they lie to you about? The fact that they are requiring spouses to attend is a clear indication that they are intending for you to deed away your week to buy something else - points, a vacation club, or something. Perhaps it is even a PCC which will want you to pay them to get you out of timesharing altogether.

we got one their calls recently

No they are not the real RCI. Search the forum for plenty of posts about this company; who wants you to believe they are the real RCI. Don't go!

We got a similar call yesterday. Told them no and hung up. It wouldn't matter if it were RCI or a scammer. We're not interested in any meetings.
