Hi.. I have 175000 pts for 2012. If I want to exchange into an RCI resort throught the portal should I deposit all of my points with RCI? What will happen with my remainder points if a reservation only costs 121000 points? Also, I believe wyndham points no longer get deposited into RCI in 70K etc increments?

I have 20,000 points that I will not be using for 2011. should I just consider those points worthless since I do not intend to borrow from 2012 to make a reservation?

Thanks for your suggestions and advice.

Only if you expect to use them all with RCI.

According to the documentation, deposited points are good for two years from the date of deposit*. So, if you deposit the 175K today, they will be good to November 2013. If you book an exchange for 121, the remaining 54K will be on your account. You can make other deposits to add to that total and make another exchange.

*: I've never left points on deposit for more than a day or two, so I'm not entirely sure how this works.

Correct, the minimum is 27K, going up in 1K increments. You need to deposit 1 housekeeping credit per 2K deposited.

You could borrow to make a reservation of at least 27K, cancel, and then deposit the cancel points. If you do that all on the same day, it is only one reservation transaction. You could also rent the additional 7K you'd need to meet the minimum deposit, but I think that is $10/K. It is arguably not worth $70 to save 20K.
