I've been in and out of the Platinum membership at RCI. The best things I've received were Hilton Hotel reservations in Chicago and Washington DC. In the distant past they had some nice Hyatt Hotels -- but haven't seen any lately. Right now there is one week at Hilton Chicago and another in New Orleans.

I had let my Platinum lapse -- and received a notice that said I could renew Platinum to 'match' the expiration date of my current RCI Membership which is July 2016. So the upgrade was $40 to use until July 2016.

Just wanted to let others know in case you want to try it for a lesser cost -- assuming your have a RCI Membership that expires within the next 6 months. I do like that RCI allows you to 'see' units available outside of your membership expiration.

The city hotels get bulk deposited. So what you see now is the left overs that have been sitting for a while. I would expect another deposit in the next month or two.

RCI has traditionally let you prorate the platinum membership. I have added it with a month left on my use year more than once for under $10 when I knew I was going to be combining a deposit and the rebate would almost pay the cost. They no longer give rebate credits for guest certs and combining. I probably won't renew because I rarely purchase getaways and the 10% discount is the only real use I see. I always get the larger accommodations and don't think a I will be using the upgrade or exchange resort 14 days but I am still evaluating that one.

b2bailey, were these reservations trades or did you pay for them?
Thanks!

Just an fyi the tpu's for those weeks are in the 20-50 range. Some sleep 2 only some sleep 4. The Washington DC hotel units were mostly in the 40-50 range even for off season. Don't forget to throw in the $209 exchange fee.

You can generally priceline DC hotels in the $100 a night range and aren't committed to a full 7 days with no kitchen or in some cases can priceline the residential type suites that have a full kitchen.

Many of the hotels charge $20-$40 in parking fees per night and some charge a resort fee as well.
