RCI or HGVC

So correct me if i"m wrong, you have to pay $269 every time you use HGVC points to stay at RCI places, correct?

I think you might be referring to last call. Yes you can get 1 bedroom condo for a week for 269 + tax for what is available withinn 45 (i think) days of checkin. Its such a nice deal if you can get one that works for you.

As you can see HGVC can be complicated! A good introduction and explanation can be found in the 3rd message in this thread: http://tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58716

As HGVC offers owners lots of options, it also has many conditions on how you access these options. We've owned for years and primarily use our HGVC points for booking HGVC resorts. Like others we have a separate (from HGVC) week with another TS property which is enrolled in RCI points and we exchange into different properties, including HGVC with it. It just depends on what we're doing as to which system we book through.

No No No you always pay an exchange fee

Unless you go to your home resort during your home week you always pay an exchange fee in HGVC or RCI. However, the exchange fee is much less in the HGVC resort system. If you exchange thru the RCI system it doesn't matter if you are an HGVC member or an RCI member you still pay the same exchange fee. But, I don't believe it is as high as $269. Depending on the type of trade points, weeks, sales etc. it runs between $139 and $219 for the ones that I have done over the last 5 years. With HGVC I am an Elite member and it is $49. It is somewhat more for non-elite members.

If you become HGVC member you get to exchange into non hgvc resorts via RCI by paying exchange fee. RCI is not a resort system.
