I was just checking out the RCI resort directory for Maui options. We are really interested in the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa or the Ka'anapali Beach Club.

However, I have been looking at inventory some and have never seen either of these exchanges offered. Has anyone out there had any success with either of these properties through RCI? I am getting ready to deposit my week to set up an ongoing search, but just wanted to test the waters first.

You will seldom see a prime Maui property in the online inventory - the online inventory is the leftovers, after all on-going requests have been filled.

To snag a top resort, the best practice is to put in an on-going request a year or more in advance with a strong trader.

Flexibility is key for getting anything on Maui through RCI. I have had ongoing searches for months to get a 2 bedroom in March. I would take anything at this point. If something comes through I will be thrilled, and if it's something I am not 100% sure I want, I will buy Vacation Protection and hope for something better.

Back in April of this year I was able to snag two 1 bedroom condos at Ka'anapali Beach Club for this December. I saw them online, not as a result of an ongoing search. Good luck!

Last year there were lots of Hyatt weeks available in the RCI system. We had 2 weeks exchange with RCI to the Hyatt Regency in Maui in November, even during the Thanksgiving period. This year there are no Hyatt weeks with RCI available for regular members, only for Platinum members, which is available to US and UK RCI members.

Not long ago I also noticed many weeks in the Ka'anapali Beach Club.
