I have 1 week (19 Credits) and 2 credits left over from previous exchange that expire 12/31/ 2013, and 2 weeks (17 Credits each) that expire 12/31/2014. My question is should I pay the fee and combine all into one large credit or combine 3 and keep on of the 17 credits as is? So if I start an ongoing search with the large credit, I would still be able to search with the one left over.

You don't need to have anything available

To search RCI, you would need to have enough TPU's available to book something but just to search, all you need to do is on the click to change tab, click show all.

You are currently searching »

Exchange Only
Bookable Only
All Deposits
All

| Click-to-Change Modify

Then you will see everything RCI has in the pool.

You can search anything, and you can combine at any time, so I wouldn't worry about combining until one of the following happens:

1) One of your deposits is close to expiration,
2) You have an exchange you want to do that you don't have enough (uncombined) trading power to do, or
3) You want to do an ongoing search and will need more trading value to get the exchange you want.

I've been able to make 2 trades at 16 pts each to use up leftovers without having to combine points. You have to be open to the time and place, but units are there to be found. For example, we snagged a 2 bedroom at the Grandview in Las Vegas for spring and a 2 bedroom near Quebec for fall.

Although you can search without combining deposits or left over credits RCI will not auto confirm a resort that becomes available that has a higher trading power than your deposit. Somehow I got a year behind on using my weeks and then had a daughter get married (couldn't afford a vacation that year) so I had three years to use. I combined my two oldest deposits which extended the expiration and tried to get a condo that slept at least eight somewhere in the Midwest. I ended up trading for a two bedroom and a one bedroom at the same resort on the same check-in date and have deposit credits left over from both trades. I kind of like being able to combine deposits as it really opens up trade opportunities.
