RCI and Grand Mayan trouble AGAIN

Just found out today that my 8/8 week to the Grand Mayan in NV was cancelled "mysteriously" This week was for 12/30/2006. I have had this reservation for over 1 1/2 years. Please tell me what has happened. I am only geting Mayan Palace "downgrades" from RCI.

I feel this is a binding contract with RCI NOT with Mayan Resorts.

Why is this continuing to happen?

RCI is blaming GM for cancelling my reservation....just a thought, how does Mayan Resorts access the RCI network system, specifically MY personal account and cancel MY reservation.....?? I would apprecieate some clarification on this, if someone can.

TiredMom,

I am just guessing here and I'm sure Madge will respond with the appropriate response, but I remember hearing something about the Mayan Resorts using a 1:4 rule. Have you exchanged into any of the Mayan resorts withing the last few years?

If so, perhaps that is how they had your information??

Again, I'm just guessing. I can see your frustrations and I'm pretty sure I saw something about the Mayans' and 1:4.

Hope it all works out,
Kirk

Yes KT, I know all about the GM, MP 1 in 4 year rule. RCI has the Mayans divide in different groups....lead resorts, and certain resort ID numbers are grouped together and the 1 in 4 applies, then there is another group and a 1 in four apply there. So, the answer is No, I have not violated this rule. Remember this reservation is 1 1/2 years old. I did accidently book into the wrong Mayan one time, and RCI called me within a week about the violation. At that time, I asked if my GM in NV was in violation, and she said no. To be sure, I called RCI a couple other times to check this.

To date, I have heard these excuses from RCI: 1. GM overbooked (NOT TRUE....I went on orbitz...there IS availability) 2. OOPS
3. I cancelled it....WRONG
4. 1 in 4 violation......NO....then why did they try to appease me with a reservation at the Mayan Palace

I would like to know.....How do the Mayans have access to my accounts with RCI, and how do they cancel that reservation without RCI approval. How does the Mayan credit my Exchange deposit back to me when they DO NOT have this information. Something is not right here, and I think it is RCI.

Madge,

Why does this only happen with RCI?

Other posts on this topic have shown that SFX exchanges don't have problem-only RCI.

I have 2 concurrent 2 bedroom villas in Jan 08 at GM NV. (#7486)

How can I be sure there will be no problem?.
What can RCI do for me and other Tuggers to stop this problem once and for all??????

My Grand Mayan NV update

I will try to be brief....but I do Believe I have a resolution to the GMNV problem I was having. This came about because I was extremely persistant with numerous phone calls and many frustrating hours on hold...and waiting for for calls to be returned. You can only imagine how many different people I talked with.

In the end....the GM week was returned to me although it is one day later than the original. $189 fee refunded Also the week I used to obtain the GM was given back to use at another time. I hope all of these things actually happen.

The last VC I spoke with was certainly helpful (I spoke with her the last few days of this ordeal)and seemed to be the ONE that could make things happen. I will say that I was never treated poorly by anyone at RCI. I was just frustrated I couldn't get any real answers.....never did.

Madge, I hope you find this information useful.

Dave, thank you for taking the time to explain everything to me as I am new to this forum and just learning the "ways". This is a more appropriate place for the resolution.

tiredmomof5kids,

I thought I had recently responded to questions about Grand Mayan but am unable to find the thread.

The larger-scale problem with Grand Mayan confirmations that occurred earlier this year has been corrected. However, occasional problems can still occur on a small scale with any resort. This may have been the case with your confirmed unit. I'm glad to hear that the Exchange Specialist was able to locate another Grand Mayan unit for the same week, even if it was a different check-in day.
