Need a little guidance occasionally I have seen resorts with 3, 4, & 5 day stays in places like NY, Vegas ect...using the RCI link Wyndham and exchange.

Is there any way to search for these short exchanges directly?

In RCI Points you can filter by length of stay. I do not remember seeing an option to do that in a weeks account.

However, the RCI weeks short stay options use unique resort codes. There will be a separate resort code for four stay options at the resort that is different than the code for a week stay. You could favorite the resort codes for the resorts you wanted to browse. Or you could set up a search that only searched for the short stay resort codes you were interested in.

I have never done one for a short stay, but I assume an OGS would be an option here as well.

Also be aware that stays of less than 7 nights will incur a cleaning fee which is listed on the RCI website (urgent info section?). Often, if you need 5 nights the cost of booking 7 nights with points and having a cleaning fee is less than booking 5 nights and paying the cleaning fee. We did that once and just left early -didn't even advise the resort so they couldn't clean the room and rent it out for double the income.

Thank you I will try and figure out what these codes are.

I have a tiny amount of points sitting in RCi and Santana is playing Vegas - that combined with a ridiculously low Frontier sale right now I may give it a go just for the concert

Do you have a “points” account or a “weeks/TPU” account?

I had deposited about 80k in expiring Wyndham points into thier RCi - which is weeks based I believe, so it’s not enough for a full week most seem to require about 105k - that’s why I asked about the occasional partial weeks.

If you only have resale wyndham, you only have access to weeks inventory. The 3, 4 and 5 night inventory is primarily exchange plus which you don't want and then it is also some 3 night hotel inventory that is the regular exchange fee vs the exchange plus fee and in my searches it seems like wyndham and Vidanta properties and some mandatory AI properties are the ones that deposit 3, 4 and 5 night inventory into the weeks inventory. The exchange fee is going to be the regular weeks exchange fee. For Wyndham properties I would expect the housekeeping fee to apply. I am not sure if they are really fewer points although they certainly are eligible for sales and overstock type promotional points discounts.

I had actually picked up a NYC one back in April-
for my son It was a studio not a hotel - and cost 39,000 points + exchange fee…there was no additional housekeeping fee lol parking was outrageously priced….Yes the exchange fee was the normal price + guest Certificate but it was for us acceptable.

@tschwa2 - look I get it 3 day trips aren’t a phenomenal deal for everyone and may not be the most cost effective option - that said I would prefer to use those points in the account now rather borrow or shave days from our other trips to get up to the amount needed for a full week which I don’t want to stay that long and I definitely don’t wish to pay for a hotel out of pocket if I have points sitting there.

Please kindly refrain from telling me “which you don't want “ its a little degrading…

What I do want is as @escanoe said is to figure out the codes… See what’s offered and if it fits are needs possibly book…

I respect that, but @tschwa2 was coming at it from a good place. The "exchange plus" options (non timeshares) that are accompanied with an exchange fee of up to $999 are off-putting to many of us. That said, some of them save a little over a cash booking (and may or may not be more affordable than purchasing the stay as an "extra" with a platinum account.)

If you do happen to land a vacation plus exchange that you view as a good deal ... please post about it on TUG.

While none of us should automatically be opposed to more choices, RCI has not won many TUGers over to thinking they offer a good value.

Here is the thing- again just looking to find the shorter stay rooms to use up the points I already have in RCI -

I have spent the morning trying to search out the short stays codes...Kinda surprised that there isn't a list of these kinda codes out there somewhere...

While the dates that this is available don't line up for what I need- I did favorite them incase they come up later- It worked out well for us with the Hilton studio back in April...

Las Vegas, NV, USA
Resort ID DJ85
Club Wyndham Grand Desert - 3 Nights

Las Vegas, NV, USA
Resort ID DJ98
Club Wyndham Grand Desert - 5 Nights

pts cost for a 1 bedroom starts at 22k- 65k

These cost is $239- to RCI and this one fro what I read may require the short stay cleaning fee but I still think thats a fair deal...

These do not appear to be part of the exchange+ program - if I had to guess its just leftover rooms that need to be filled...

When I notice the short stay offerings around me (National Harbor is an example that comes to mind), I don’t necessarily remember them being for fewer points than a full week. And when they are discounted, they are priced quite similar to discounted full weeks.

My guess is people have not posted those codes on TUG because there are not many TUGers looking for them.

I am curious if your exploration of the opportunity yields what you are looking for.

Two of the contracts I picked up last year had full points but came in earlier than I expected in mid December- from what I read here on tug i immediately dropped them in RCI snatched up one of the last DVC weeks. I have about 80k left so the 3 -5 dayers are for me and ok way to use them up. IMO they were freebies- I didn’t expect those points so they were a pleasant surprise- now using the rest up is the goal.

Thanks I didn’t realize National harbor would also have shorter stays…But what you said makes me wonder if any of the more local resorts to us have this as well.
