I attended an update and sales presentation while at Club Regina Cancun in early September. I wanted to understand the impact.
A quick summary is that RVC members continue with same resorts available to us but we cannot reserve Royal Holiday resorts with our current membership status. That is fine with me.
The bad news is that Royal Holiday members can reserve our resorts and they can make reservations 18 or 24 months in advance. They could effectively block us from our use since we can only reserve 365 days in advance. That seems very unfair to me and to current RVC members.
We have shoulder seasons in September/October and also in May/June. We have discounted points usage during these periods. They do not.
Out annual maintenance fees are due according to date of purchase and theirs are due 12/31 of preceding year. Their points are good for 2 years and if not used, they expire. Ours are good until 2030.
I was offered a trade in for my 130,000 point membership for $22,500 US and receive 50,000 points membership.
It was a hard NO but I spent the time listening and reviewed the contract and members guide.
Their membership expires upon your death but family can pay a fee to assume it if they so desire.
Salesman offered me a 10 year contract but upon review of the contract, it states it is a 30 year contract and terms of contract cannot be changed.
It would be interesting to hear from Royal Holiday members and what they think of their program.
