We want to use our Raintree membership at Club Regina Cancun next spring and are undecided between using a 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom unit - the 1 would be just big enough, the 2 would be more comfortable...

We have never been to the resort but know that some units face the ocean and some face the lagoon/highway. Does anybody know if there are 2 bed units that face the ocean? Or do they all face the lagoon? The same questions apply for 1 bedroom units as well.

Thanks for the help.

Chris

The three Club Regina Resorts have pretty much the same layout as shown in this diagram HERE.

A One bedroom villa is the combination of a Hotel Room and Studio Unit. A Two Bedroom villa combines the Hotel Room and Studio Unit with an additional Hotel Room creating a 2 bedroom apartment with kitchen, living room, and 3 bathrooms. Each unit has a separate entrance, and lock-off door to the other units. I would imagine that depending on the configurations, Club Regina could reserve all units as 2 bedroom villas or all units as 1 bedroom villas with seperate hotel units, or any combination.

In Cancun, the Club Regina timeshare building is situated separately from the Westin Hotel in the North side of the complex. You can still use all of the Westin's pools, restaurants and facilities however. The villas in this building face both towards the Lagoon and towards the Caribbean. I assume half and half. I was told that Club Regina owners have absolute preference to receive the Ocean view villas. So you should be in good shape here.

Club Regina Cancun 1&2 Bd.Units.

Club Regina Cancun has few 2 bedroom units. Some face the ocean & some face the lagoon. Assignments are made based on how early you make your reservations, so if you have a date that is firm, call now and pay your maintenance fees ahead of time for next year and reserve your unit whether you need a 1 or 2 bedroom unit, if you want to get an ocean view room.
Raintree is in the process of updating the furnishings which need updating. It is to be completed in 2008.
Currently, the living room couch is a double bed in a drawer-type base that rolls out from the headboard. Bed is OK but firm, but as a couch it is not very comfortable seating. We take the removable back cushions and put one in front of the other to give better configuration because the seat is too deep for the length of our legs.
There is great snorkeling right down the beach at Puncta Nizuc. Just cross over the rocky area next to Club Med and you will see wonderful tropical fish in shallow waters...so you see them clos-up instead of 20 feet below you.
If you have any other questions let me know.

I am seconding- what Donna said- there are only 8 -- 2 bedroom units- 4 on the lagoon- and 3 on the ocean (one is used for the sales staff)- sooner the better- for reserving. When we were there in Feb.- were a number of families that reserved 2-1 bedroom units- in order to get ocean views.

As a side note- the customer service folks are very active in suite assignments and are very good. Also- they do have a computer for member use behind the desk- but - the staff has to use it too. But they do have wireless in the lobby- so if you want to have internet access- bring your laptop- then you can get on on your time frame.

Have a wonderful time- we love it there. Ruth

We are RVC members thru Whistler. We reserved a 2 br unit for 1-07 in 2-06.

When we arrived (made several phone calls to Club Regina over the 2-3 weeks prior and 2 or 3 calls prior to that about 6 months earlier) around 6 pm the folks at the desk did not know who we were and were not expecting any more guests. In fact, we were not shown on there list they had at Club Regina Desk. Took about an hour for them to find us in the puter. We had a choice of 2 different 2 br units. One was on first floor ocean side and pool was out our door and the other was 3rd floor lagoon side. Unit we took leaked from upstairs unit. Apparently they got that fixed after we complained.

We had problems (severe) with housecleaning thruout our stay. One group would completely ignore that we were still in our units and come in to clean. Then they would just stay outside and knock on our doors every 10 to 15 minutes to see if we were ready to leave.

Of course, I complained to management during this but it didn't solve the problem right away. Took several phone calls.

Of course, I sent email to RVC direct about it and all they said by response is that they are sending my email to Cancun direct.

Sent a follow up request for info cuz I never heard and to this day I have not heard anything.

Up until this experience, I have nothing but praise for RVC. Have been to PV twice and received the rooms I requested in spite of checking in at 4:30 pm.

I know that part of the problem with Cancun for us is that we don't get in until late and most midwest to East Coast get in much much earlier.

If and when we go back and DS wants to go back, we might try getting 2 1 br units.

Thanks for the Help!

Thank you everybody for the info. It is exactly what I was looking to learn. I think we will book the 2 bedroom unit early and push to get the ocean side.

Thanks Again!
