A fellow owner at Raintree reports that she went to a timeshare presentation at Diamond resorts and was told by the saleperson the Diamond was buying Raintree. Anyone else heard this rumor?
Were the salesperson's lips moving during the presentation? If yes there's a good chance that it's puffery.

Five or six years ago, just before the stock market tanked, Diamond was kicking the tires on Raintree. That didn't stop sales people from telling prospects that it was a done deal. I tried to correct a sales person who was saying that, and he insisted that I had it wrong. Until I had him bring in the sales manager who confirmed that there wasn't any deal.
Until there is any kind of a formal announcement I would remain skeptical. TS salespeople, of course, are notoriously unreliable providers of information. I could probably pull at least ten items have been told about by Diamond/Sunterra sales people about things that were done and delivered that never happened.

With all of that said, I have believed for some time that Diamond taking over Raintree makes all kinds of sense.
