Gone. Passed away in her sleep at 95. Loved her. She always reminded me of my Irish Mum. Will watch "Quiet Man" and "Only The Lonely" this weekend. Sad.......:bawl:

"Ms O’Hara will not be buried in her native Ireland but at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, DC, next to her husband, the USAF pilot General Charles Blair who died in a plane crash in 1978."

I'll admit, I didn't know she was still with us. Like so many famous people from "the old days," I assumed she'd passed a long time ago. Glad to know she had a full life, and went quietly in her sleep.

My favorite movie scene of hers, bar none, was the big town fight at the mud pit in "McClintock," with John Wayne. She gets accidentally clobbered, and lands in the muddy mess. Awesome scene. :)

RIP Ms. O'Hara.

Maureen O'Hara, Irish-Born Actress Known as Queen of Technicolor, Dies at 95 - by Anita Gates/ Movies/ International New York Times/ The New York Times/ nytimes.com

"Maureen O’Hara, the spirited Irish-born actress who played strong-willed, tempestuous beauties opposite all manner of adventurers in escapist movies of the 1940s and ’50s, died on Saturday at her home in Boise, Idaho. She was 95.
Stories from Our Advertisers

Johnny Nicoletti, her longtime manager, confirmed her death.

Ms. O’Hara was called the Queen of Technicolor, because when that film process first came into use, nothing seemed to show off its splendor better than her rich red hair, bright green eyes and flawless peaches-and-cream complexion. One critic praised her in an otherwise negative review of the 1950 film “Comanche Territory” with the sentiment “Framed in Technicolor, Miss O’Hara somehow seems more significant than a setting sun.” Even the creators of the process claimed her as its best advertisement..."

The local paper ran an article on her some time back (Boise, ID). Before that, I had no idea she lived here.

Loved some of her old films.
