Leonard Nimoy, best known as Vulcan Mr. Spock in the Star Trek TV franchise died Friday at 83 from age related complications with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

Boldly go.

Of the original principal crew, there's not many left.
◾ William Shatner -- is 83.
◾ George Takei -- is 77.
◾ Walter Koenig -- is 78.
◾ Nichelle Nichols -- is 82.

◾ Leonard Nimoy -- RIP.
◾ DeForest Kelley -- died 1999.
◾ James Doohan -- died 2005.
◾ Majel Barrett -- died 2008.

<sigh> Time waits for no one.

I saw Leonard around the community at various restaurants over the years, as well as professional presentations back in the 80s and 90s (I recall a presentation he gave on Star Trek IV, which he directed). He always seemed to be happy...

I was never a big Star Trek fan, but I certainly knew who Dr. Spock was.

RIP.

And Gene Roddenberry, Star Trek's creator-- Died 1991

I am now 60, and I remember when the boys in sixth grade were talking about the new show Star Trek. None of the girls were interested in Star Trek. I had never heard of it. Before the bell rang, or in the lunch line, or on the playground, the boys had long conversations about it.

Rest in peace, Mr. Spock. I became a fan later in life, and our kids, especially our middle son, were raised on Star Trek. It was a great family show. Good clean entertainment.

DH still watches reruns constantly. Nimoy came to my college in the 70s. A photographer from the student newspaper was up front at the beginning of the show to get a picture. Nimoy stopped talking and looked directly at the boy, then said something very rude. I felt so bad for him. I'm sure he was embarrassed or humiliated by the call-out. So while I did enjoy Nimoy as an actor, I lost some respect for him that night.

Enjoyed him as Paris in 60's Mission Impossible

He was good as William Bell in Fringe as well.

I have been, and always shall be, your fan.....

His final tweet was particularly poignant:

"A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP
@TheRealNimoy"

He'll be missed ...

Loved Fringe! I was so disappointed when they cancelled it. He was great in that, you are right!

I didn't know there was a video of this. I owned a 45RPM record of Leonard Nimoy singing this song. For record collectors, it was also printed as a Promotional Copy, making it even more ridiculous and desirable, considering that LN never became known as a singer. I don't have it anymore, and have no idea of what happened to it.

BTW, it was truly awful to listen to. :)
