Do all valdoro mountain lodge weeks come with extra week?
For example, owners get 1 fixed winter week and 1 floating summer week?
If so, do owners pay two maintenance fees, or just pay for one week and get an extra week for free?
Looking for another platinum week and Valdoro ownership is very interesting.
Thanks.
No, not all owners have two weeks, but when Valdoro was in sales mode, that was a common package that they sold -- one fixed ski week, and one summer "floating" week. MFs are per week just like any other property, so yes, those owners would pay two maintenance fees for those two weeks.
There has been some confusion here in the past -- since the MFs come in one bill, some owners just think of it as a single MF. Even though these owners bought a single "package" of those two weeks, I believe they can split them and sell them individually.
While the MFs at Valdoro are not the least expensive of the HGVC properties, they aren't much more than the HGVC-owned Florida properties (and definitely less than any Hawaii property). If you can get it for a good price, Valdoro can be a nice addition to your HGVC ownership.
The weeks come on the same bill and are split into two bills. This leads to many advertisements showing a lower MF than what is really billed.
In January, owners are billed the reserve fee, taxes and half the operating fee. In July owners are billed the other half of the operating fee.
Also, the summer float is just that, a summer floating week. It does not have the 12 month advantage for ski season. Be wary of those advertising a Valdoro float and saying it's a platinum ski week, etc. It's likely a summer float that can book a ski week just as any other points in the system are able to do 9 months from check-out.
If you're really wanting annual ski weeks out of your non-ski week points that don't have the 12 month booking advantage, Valdoro usually opens up around October and November with availability as owners of fixed ski weeks (which are automatically booked 15 months out) begin to cancel their upcoming reservations for points. At this point it's a matter of being online when a week becomes available for booking, which can be hit or miss.
Jan at Jovan Realty has some decent inventory in Breck as well as Judi K.
