I'm hoping that someone here can answer a question for me regarding consolidation of deeds. Here's the story.
Back in October, my wife and I went to an owner breakfast at the Wyndham Grand Desert Resort in Las Vegas. The representative we talked to tried to get us to consolidate deeds we hold at other Wyndham properties into a single deed at a Wyndham resort in Hawaii. Such consolidation also required that we buy more points. Since we do not ever intend to go to Hawaii, and since we did not want to spend $22,000 on the points, we decided to pass. But I did ask the question of the rep, can we consolidate our existing deeds without buying additional points? The rep said that we couldn't do that - consolidation required buying more points.
When we got home, I wrote a letter to Wyndham's owner relations department asking them to explain to my wife and me, in writing, why we could not consolidate our deeds without purchasing more points. I also gave them about a month to respond. A representative from owner relations did call us and left a message, but she didn't leave a direct line at which to contact her (only a toll-free number). She also contacted us via email to follow up. I responded to her email, then followed up with two more emails. To date, no other response received.
In my last email, I indicated that I planned to ask the same question I asked in my original letter to the attorney general of Nevada (where the offer was made), and the attorneys general of New Jersey and North Carolina (where we own with Wyndham). And I explained that my question is to help us understand what we are and what we are not entitled to in terms of our deeds. We're not looking to sue or anything like that. We just want an explanation.
I'm hoping someone here has had a similar experience, or knows the answer to my question.
