I know this might be a dum question, but we want to go to Maui next February to the WKORV. We want to arrive on Saturday Feb 17th. Do I call on Friday Feb 17 for the year in advance or Saturday because of the leap year?

Not a dumb question at all. Just call on the same day of month you want to check in, so call on the 17th as you thought.

I'd call on Feb. 28, and see if they're booking Feb. 29. If not, then I'd call back on Mar. 1.
Actually, I'd probably send them a msc question in advance and ask them which is the appropriate date.

Eagle, make sure you call in at exactly 9:00AM Eastern Time! All the oceanview villas at WKORV were gone in the first 10 minutes this morning for 2/16/13. I suspect the SVN desk will be just as busy tomorrow. Good luck!

I hate to point this out, but the Saturday next year is February 16th. That means you should have called this morning.

Its been years but I thought that I remembered that 1/4 resort at WKORV OV and IV checks in Friday, 1/2 Saturday, and 1/4 on Sunday. Tomorrow would then be fine to call for a Sunday check in.

Don't forget that Feb 16 is President's Day week. That is a high demand week, so the resort will be full. On the other hand, I was able to reserve units for Feb 3 and Feb 10, 2013 without a problem.
Please aware: The pool on the south side may be closed for resurfacing during that week. I know it will be closed the week of Feb 3 and 10, 2013. That means the pools on the North will be extra busy with guests from both sides. I don't know the exact dates for the start and stop of the pool closing, but they should tell you this when you make a reservation.

WKOR Pool Enhancement Feb. 2013
When I just made a reservation at WKOR for 2/16/13, my reservation confirmation indicated "... pool enhancement project will commence on January 7, 2013, and continue through mid-February." So I guess there is a real possibility that the pool could still be closed that week depending on the project's timeline and if it is completed on schedule.

When I called this morning to make our reservation, the gentleman told me that the south pool would be closed for renovation. I'm hoping that things don't happen on "Hawiian Time" and it will be done by mid February. If it's not, well, we'll just have to spend more time in the ocean and next door or in search for the perfect mai tai!!!

My guess it is just a re-plaster and touch-up of the tile work. I don't think they could do much more than that in the 4-6 weeks they have scheduled.
