Looking for clarification on buying Marriott points resale vs direct. I’ve looked through past postings but want to make sure I’m understanding correctly and have up to date info. Is the only disadvantage of buying resale the fee you have to pay Marriott (I think it was $3 per point) and you will not qualify for one of their elite statuses (which didn’t seem like much value)?

I agree with KarenP that you should move your thread to the Marriott forum for better exposure.

The additional fee plus a few hundred dollars for an education fee are the only disadvantages. The points are then made whole and they count toward your status. The general view has been that the Executive member level is a very good level to reach if you can as it allows you to make reservations of less than 7 days at an earlier date, among a couple other helpful benefits.

Best regards.

Mike
