We are thinking of booking a 2BD unit at Sheraton Vistana Resort and are
wondering if the 2BD units that accomodate 6 people are actually two 1BD lockout units. Does anyone know?
You can see the floor plans for each phase in Owner Resources at the top of the Starwood page, under the Resort Info. heading, you will find a link to the resorts, and then to floorplans. - After you get to the SVR page, click on "villas."
Vistana has been around a long time, and lock-outs are a new invention that wasn't available when most of the Vistana phases were built. It depends on which phase you are in, but I think only Cascades has lock-outs. Lakes may have that, I don't remember. Most phases don't have lock-outs.

As pointed out, the layout of Vistana units depends on when they were built.
A two bdr. lockout is NOT the same, as you seem to think, as two 1bd units that, with some variation in design, include a full bdr.,a living rm and a full kitchen.
The lock out portion usually is a studio for two with its own bathroom, but may, or may not, have a minikitchen (small frig, micro, coffemaker).
Being an owner at Vistana, I can also tell you that each unit has been updated. At the cost of almost 2 thousand extra to each owner, besides the normal maintance fee. Lots of us sold out, I stuck it out, grandchildren , you know. Being so close to Disney.

I would have hated to pay that $2000 assesment as I am sure you did, but I traded into a renovated unit if the Falls section this summer and it was the one of the nicest (if not the nicest) timeshares I have ever stayed in. The rooms were huge and the furnishings and amenities were fantastic. I can see why it cost so much per owner to renovate it. You have a great resort and in the long run I am sure that you will be glad that you stuck it out.

Before we bought a resale at Vistana, we had booked a 2 bdrm (through the reservation call centre)several times and each time we got a 2 bdrm villa. The only phases with the lockoffs are the Lakes and Cascades. To a certain extent it may depend on how you intend to book the 2 bdrm. If you are booking through the Vistana website or the reservation centre you likely won't get a lockoff. More than likely you will get a villa in the Springs, Falls, Spas or Courts section. If you book by some other means (exchange company or a rental)they should disclose whether it's a lockoff or not. You could get a lockoff but the odds are you won't.

Thank you, the Falls is where I own. I love that area of Vistana as it does not seemed to be as busy, while the grandchildren are at Disney, I can enjoy the pool, lots of times by myself. I have owned there for about 15 years and even with the extra money, I have come out ahead.:whoopie:
