I exchanged for a 2BR over Thanksgiving week at SDO, and was wondering if anyone could tell me how many people can sit at the dining table in the main area? I found out that my brother in-law and sister-in-law are supposed to be visiting her parents in Phoenix at Thanksgiving, so I was thinking of inviting them all over to the timeshare for Thanksgiving dinner, but I wasn't sure if all 6 adults would have a place at the table. I figured the kids' table could be in the studio.

We could also go out for dinner. Have never done that for Thanksgiving, so it might be fun.

Thanks for any help.

Here is the floor plan - the floor plan shows that it seats 6, but the text says seating for 4. For future references, there are links to all the resort websites and floor plans in the Owner Resources sticky.

Have a wonderful turkey day! :hi:

Here is a picture of the dining area of a large one bedroom villa at SDO:

Largeonebedroom.jpg

As you can see, there is enough room to seat 6 in the large one-bedroom at SDO, but unfortunately the designers chose to put a space-sucking, massive and heavy glass-topped table resting on a huge, knee-banger concrete? stand (behind that easy chair in the picture) in that space. As a result, that area only seats 4. (Click on this link for a glimpse of the knee-banger table stand).

The adjacent counter in the large one bedroom villa has two bar stools where two people could sit, but since they are wrought iron, they also require a fork-lift to move or even slide out for sitting.

If I were you, I would check with the SDO staff to see if they could temporarily store the stonehenge table for you on Thanksgiving, and substitute in its place a portable folding-banquet table that seats 6.

For the sake of completness, here is the dining area of the small one bedroom at SDO:

It seats 3.

Have fun!

P.S. Hey Starwood Corporate lurkers. I just want to say that as an SDO owner, I LOOOOOOOVE the stonehenge table, free-workout bar-stools, and everything else about SDO! I was just thinking how wonderful SDO is, and how it won't need any "special assessments" for a very, very long time. -n

Thank you! It looks like it may be a tight fit. Great idea about moving the table out. I wonder if they would do that? I guess it doesn't hurt to ask. The table for 3 in the small side is perfect for the kids. Hmmm. I'll have to think about this.

Nice try, Nodge. I think someone's brother in law was selling those Stonehnge tables or maybe the "professional" decorator hired by the HOA was a relative. I have never seen such poorly sized furnature at any timeshare.

At any rate, to the OP...there would be room to seat 6 adults for dinner if no one minds being trapped against the wall and/or the bar for the dinner. Go for it anyway. With both sides of the lock-off your family will be able to find enough space to have a great visit for Turkey Day.

go to kmart or walmart down the road and pick up 2 small chairs to put at the end of the table and then bring them back on friday or after you won't be using them again.
