I have 2000 EEE points, with a May 2027 expiration date, that were included with one of my legacy weeks purchases.

I am fairly well versed in Interval and believe I know the answer to my question, but still wanted to ask the experts.

Do I need to make an II reservation with the EEE points before they expire OR do I need to travel by the expiration date?

Additionally, assuming I just need to reserve by the expiration date, an e-plus addon would effectively give me up to another year beyond that reservation.

Thank crew!

You only need to spend the points in Interval by May of 2027. You can book past that date (I do that often) - and yes you can leverage Eplus to go even further. So you have plenty of time.

There are some subtleties of booking Interval with a Hyatt points account. There is no concept of unit size upgrades for a fee - if you rebook a different season or unit size you have to account for the points difference. Our Interval points chart used to be static - but the seasonal differences now make it more complicated.

The points stay with Hyatt until you spend them. The points seem to get transferred the next day to Interval. A cancellation would return them to EEE unless they would be expired - then you would lose them. Again, a reason to use EPlus since they points stay with Interval. But you would not be able to book a unit requiring more points after May of 2027 in Interval - unless you have newer points in your account to make up the difference (which you should, but if you are using your home reservation you will not).

With Hyatt (either EEE points or your normal points) - you have to keep track of the dates and lifespan of your points in related to expiration and rebooking. The rules are simple, but the application of those rules can hurt your head - especially when you are talking about using the points after they expire.

Good luck, and hopefully this makes sense.

The point cost for 1 bedrooms is pretty high and wouldn't leave me with enough remaining points for another reservation.

I'll probably book a 2 bedroom at the 1950 points level and put an e-plus on it.

Thanks for the info!

You are welcome.

Sounds like a good plan to book a peak season 2br. You basically can go anywhere. With the time you have, you could submit a search for something you really want.

You may not care about the 250 points, but you could get 3-4 nights in a studio somewhere with a Interval shortstay. Or supplement with later points.
