I think I read this somewhere but I was hoping to get confirmation from someone. I just bought a 4800 points EOY starting in 2016, but already had several vacations booked in 2016.
If I deposit my 4800 points into 2017 before December 31st of this year can I borrow them back in 2016 if I need to.

Yes, you can borrow points for no fee. If you think you may use them in 2016 it might be better to leave them sit and Rescue next November instead of Deposit now.

Why not Deposit Them?

If one may use the points in 2016 why not deposit them now if one could them borrow them from 2017 to use in 2016?

Because there is no fee to use them as 2016 points in 2016, but there would be a fee to deposit them into 017. So if you use them all next year it is free

Thanks for the responses.
I know I will definitely not use all 4800 points in 2016, maybe just some of them. I presume that a deposit fee in 2015 will be cheaper than a rescue fee in 2016, plus I believe I would still have the flexibility to rescue any of the unused 4800 points in 2017 into 2018.

4800 is not a lot, are you sure you wont use them?

Here are the rules for deposit:

Club Deposit. On or before December 31 of the current year, Members may deposit any or all of their next year’s allotment of ClubPoints into the following year’s account (a “Club Deposit”). For example, prior to December 31, 2015, Members may deposit their 2016 allotment of ClubPoints into 2017. Deposited points may not be used to make a Home Week reservation and may not be carried over beyond one (1) year. A Deposit Fee applies.

The fee is the same to deposit or rescue, $99. This year the rescue fee was reduced to $66 if the transaction was done in Oct/Nov to encourage owners to avoid the December crunch when the web site and call center gets a lot of transactions.
