Question about a resale posted on TUG

Doesn't mean anything. Same use across HGVC. Just calculate the mf/pt. Kohala Suites tend to be higher and that is what you pay forever

could just be a typo from the owner who posted it, best bet would be to reach out to the member using the contact button and ask them to clarify!

It is even worse, the maintenance fee will be close or more than 4K
Ouch - for 4K you could reserve a large hotel room for the week and not be tied down to MF.

Except this is for a 2 BR, 2 Bath condo x 2 weeks...
(realize still almost double of similar MF for an Elara deed but just pointing out this is 2 weeks in a 2 BR/2 BA condo which is still nicer than a regular hotel room unless Grand Hyatt Kauai etc)...
@cdwillie76 , there are some event weeks (Christmas/NYE) & the seller may have that (or not): may ask them to clarify..

I wouldn't take that deed even if you paid me. The MF's are out of control there. I only buy deeds that are 9-10 cents or less per point in 2025.

At that points level its pobably a pass, unless you want to stay there.
We "own" Kohala and the MFs are a bit high, but we enjoy staying there. Price is what you pay and value is what you get.
We look at Honolulu and have almost purchaed more than once. That said Elara is always top of mind as is Scottland (probably higher, due to II access and Max). We seem to want to collect these things called timeshares and spend more $$$ to take more and better vacations.

I'm personally shocked when we stay at midlevel hotels and their list prices. Timeshares seem to not be a bad inflation hedge. All things considered, just don't pay retail!

Agree 100%!

*Craig Lodge has given us HGVC Legacy Elite status (buyer should verify as many changes going on), as one is buying from HGVC Resale Dept; so, a little higher but low closing costs + DeX access; subject to currency exchange (esp with $ weakening against GBP as a policy of current admin)... Lots of prior excellent posts re Vegas, Craig Lodge, at TUG from experienced HGVC Gurus!

I had a one night stay at a Hampton Inn a couple of weeks ago and the points I used cost $170. Compare that to a stay (with a group) I have coming up later this year that includes:

8 nights in a 1 BR
6 nights in a 3 BR
3 nights in a Studio x 2
7 nights in a 1 BR

That's a total of 27 nights and 39 bed nights. The total cost for my points is just over $2100, which works out to $78/night or $54/bed night. Most of these were booked using a 25% off promo, but even without that the math is pretty attractive.
