I remember seeing within the last few weeks a post talking about purchasing foreclosed timeshares directly from Wyndham at a deep discount. I'm not sure which threat it was discussed but does anyone remember seeing mention of this or have any knowledge on how to go about purchasing these timeshares from Wyndham?
My options are open. I just remembered seeing a few post talking about purchasing foreclosed properties directly from Wyndham. The post stated that these purchases would count the same as developer purchases for a fraction of the cost.
I like to take short trips around the holidays so having unlimited HK credits and other VIP benefits would be very useful but I'm not willing to spend a ton of money chasing VIP benefits. If I can find a way between cheap foreclosed properties and PIC then I might be able to stomach the price of reaching VIP status again.
They are not really foreclosed. What you are doing is taking over the payments of a contract of someone who cannot make the payments. They lose their equity in the contract and you get the equity by taking over the payments. It does count toward VIP. It is a better deal than buying retail, but it is not as good as resale. You need to call Corporate Direct Sales in Orlando to check what is available. That is how I purchased my points to get to Gold. If and when I buy anymore points and the right contract comes up, it will be resale.

I've been offered foreclosed on points twice. Both times I would have had to make a retail purchase in addition. First time was at Flagstaff. I was offered 126,000 converted fixed week with very low MF for $3500.00 if I bought 105,000 UDI at Sedona for $22,000.00.
Second time in Ocean Ridge in Edisto Island, SC. I was offered a 200,000 points at Ocean boulevard, North Myrtle Beach for $10,000 if I bought 28,000 CWA point for $7,000.00.
