Has anyone encountered a MVC purchase where you pay for it in one year (2016), but not allowed to use it for the following 12 months?

I purchased (paid for in full along with fees) my MVC timeshare in 2016 (Sept), but not allowed to actually use it until 2018??? Can't get my salesman to return my call.

Did you buy an every other even year usage week? I own 4 such weeks. A Custom House odd year usage that i'm using in 2017 and 3 Maui even year usage that next usage is 2018. Not sure what else makes sense.

Or what you bought had next usage 2018. Without more info as to what you bought it's hard to say but if you did provide I'm sure us savvy TUGGERS can help

That will be 15 months of no use. Maybe the previous owner deposited 2016 and 2017 in interval for own use? or maybe previous owner borrowed those 2 weeks (2016-2017) for his own vacation in 2016?. Did you call Marriot and see what you have available for using? and what happened to weeks 2016 and 2017? Who is your salesman company?

I agree with the other posters. I assume you bought a resale week. Please double-check your documents. It sounds like you either purchased an Every-Other Year (EOY) week with even year usage (which would next be available in 2018); or you bought an annual week and the owner has retained 2017 usage for themselves and conveyed ownership with first usage in 2018. If this was an annual week, and the seller paid the 2017 maintenance fees, your usage beginning in 2018 isn't unreasonable to me (since they paid for 2017 usage). However, if you paid/reimbursed the seller for 2017 maintenance fees then you should be getting the usage in 2017 as well. Please advise once you review your contract/documents.
