Going to PV and wondering about the cab fare to Paradise Village from airport. What should we expect to pay ?
Any good restaurant in area?

we paid 145 peso (about $13) from airport to grand luxxe/grand mayan which are closed to paradise village

You can call Paradise Village since you are a member and ask to arrange for airport pickup. You will get a discounted rate with VIP transport. We use them every year. There will be someone looking for you when you enter the baggage area and again when you clear customs.

@lily28, is that per person or for the whole cab ride?

taxi fare

145 peso plus tip is for the whole taxi, not per person

Thanks. Headed to Grand Luxxe in June. Any other bits of information such as food shopping and where to eat inexpensively would be greatly appreciated.

We have been advised (by hotel staff and taxi drivers) that tipping is not expected or needed when using taxis in Puerto Vallarta. We have even had drivers turn down tips when offered.

OTOH, we always tipped when using taxis in PV and were never turned down. (Hadn't heard it wasn't expected before.) Oh well, happy to add a little bit to the economy there. :)

We normally just used the bus system for getting around. Only exception was when we were out too late and missed the last bus. (Buses probably don't run from the airport, but I'm not positive.)

Irish,

If you are staying at Grand Luxxe you get free transportation from the airport to the resort through Miller Transportation. You must make arrangements with the Grand Luxxe Concierge one to two weeks prior to arrival via email to: concierge5nv@grandluxxe.com. He will email a voucher you will present to Miller when you arrive. Walk past the timeshare hawkers out of the airport to the Miller rep who will be waiting for you at the curb.

When you leave to go home, you pay for the taxi back to the airport.

For shopping, Walmart and Mega are close to both Paridise Village and Grand Luxxe. It costs 60 Pesos to take a taxi to the new Walmart to load up on groceries, beer etc.

There are many inexpensive restaurants close to both Grand Luxxe and Paradise Village. Previous threads cover the available restaurants thoroughly.
